So, how will this course help me learn SEO?
This course takes you through a series of modules with very specific guidance on how to get your website ranking better on Search Engines. Each module includes at least one video where I explain one or more concepts related to SEO. In most modules, I also include one or more videos of me demonstrating the concepts. For instance, when I talk about how to write an effective meta description you’ll also see me demonstrate where and how to add a meta description to both a Word Press website as well as a Square Space website. Then, the course includes several worksheets, most of which have been beta tested by other practice owners.
Module 1: Welcome!
This module will clearly explain what SEO is, talk about things to consider when building your website (including a list of questions to ask a website designer), and some quick wins you can do right away to improve SEO for your site as a whole.
Module 2: Content is King
In the SEO world, content is king. Google assumes that a website with a lot of really rich content will be providing helpful information to potential viewers. Therefore, it’s important to have a robust site chuck full of information people truly find useful. But what sort of information should you inlaced? We’ll talk all about that in this module! It will include information about writing service pages, location pages, your about page, a home page and blog posts. Furthermore, you’ll receive a content planning worksheet and an outline for service pages as well as places you can get even more information about adding content to your counseling website!
Module 3: Keyword Research
Keyword research is the starting place for any good SEO strategy and usually the topic I get the m most questions on. In this module, I’ll talk about how to do keyword research including discussing both paid and free tools. Then, I’ll demo on screen how I identify keywords for a page I’m about to optimize and you’ll have access to my keyword planning worksheet.
Module 4: Meta Data
Meta titles and descriptions are what shows up in the search results that help people decide whether or not to click on your site. We’ll talk about how to balance writing a meta description with enough keywords to help you get to the top of search engines while still making it helpful enough that potential clients “click” on your website. This module will include a demo of writing and adding a meta description on both a square space and word press site as well as another worksheet.
Module 5: On Page SEO
This is the mammoth module in that I’m covering a lot! We’ll talk about editing headers, photos and the content of your page to maximize your SEO. We’ll also cover what a url “slug” is and how to choose one for new pages that includes keywords. And we’ll go in depth talking about how to add internal links to your page.
Module 6: Building Backlinks
In some ways, Google is a big popularity contest. We’ll talk about how to get “votes” for your website by ethically getting other websites to link to yours.
Module 7: Monitoring Results
If you’ve followed me for long, you know I believe in following the data. Therefore, I couldn’t possibly put together a comprehensive SEO course without giving you at least a little guidance on how to monitor your results and respond to the information you gather.
By learning to track your data using your own call log, Brighter Insights or another rankings tracker, Google Search Console & Google Analytics you’ll be able to make informed decisions about where to invest your. time. In addition, you’ll be able to find problems & respond quickly.
